Purchased to help an old stray cat stay warm in cold weather. We have a trough of fresh hay that we have to cover and keep warm, but the hidden old thing won't go in. Bought this and put it outside the bathing shed so he can at least sit on it while eating and it seems to suit him. The size is perfect and it doesn't get too hot. We just put it in a box with the lid open and put a thin layer of fresh hay on top. Works great and keeps laundry dry. If you have pets (even a dog), provide them or a larger version indoors or in a kennel with hay or straw to help them survive frost and freezing weather.
