Review on πŸ”ͺ Complete Whetstone Sharpening Kit with Waterstone Sharpener by Richard Miller

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Very Satisfied Skeptic

After reading the reviews I bought these bars with caution: the negative reviews seemed valid and I wasn't sure if all the positive reviews were genuine. I had the same feeling with all of the whetstone vendors on Revain - they all seem to be selling roughly the same product. I bought the 400/1000 and 3000/8000 combos and tested them the day they arrived. As our Global knives haven't seen a real stone since they were new it took a while to get a proper bevel and even ridge at 400, around 30 minutes, but the subsequent sharpening only took a few minutes and I was able to achieve a mirror shine. Beveled and razor-sharp even with a 3000 grit; 8000 really wasn't necessary, but I did it anyway. I sharpened two large chef's knives and a double knife; The stones held up well and stayed flat - you need to make sure you use the full area. Based on this experience, it seems that people who complain about not being able to get the right finish shouldn't blame the stones - results can vary. Simply because of the quality of the steel.

Pros
  • ALL PURPOSE KNIFE STONES: This set of sharpening stones can be used as a one stop shop for anything you want to sharpen and polish. It can sharpen any knife be it kitchen knife, hunting knife sharpener, pocket knife sharpener, scissor sharpener, chisel sharpener, blade sharpener, straight razor, it can even sharpen dull swords.
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
