They are bigger than I was expecting! My son loves them - adds a new dimension of play!. My only complaint about the design is that if you build two "train cars" (for example) and the both the back of the first one and the front of the second one are built with vertical pieces, you cannot make a tight turn or else the pieces will grab on to one another - because the coupling points are too close together. We've learned to build our train cars to have the front and backs slanted inward (a pyramid rather than a square building). I hope that makes sense to a reader - difficult to explain with only words.
