Review on πŸ–₯️ Cinolink 5.25 to 3.5 Drive Bay Adapter HDD SSD Mounting Bracket - Black by David Stover

Revainrating 1 out of 5

I'm confused. There were no instructions included with this adapter shell.

This Cinolink 5.25 to 3.5 adapter that fits in the bay of your computer comes with no instructions. The largest screws secure the adapter to the bay. But who gets the smaller screws? I received 5 of the following smaller screws. I suspect they mount hard drives in a tray. Then I found 17 very small screws. I suspect they will mount the SSD. There were 4 rubber pads included. I figured they go in the big holes that need to be mounted over the bottom 4 screw holes of a 3.5" hard drive. BUT the 4 middle screws are very short. The heads on it go through the gasket holes. Since the holes on the tray are much larger than the screw heads and the shank is too short to screw the tray to the hard drive with spacers, there is no way to hold the drive securely on the tray. as screw heads? They are not mentioned at all. Gaskets are a good idea, but they should be more like washers that sit on holes that are smaller than screw heads. The designer just didn't put much thought into how to secure a 3.5" hard drive in the drawer. Update: I found that the included screws that are supposed to attach the tray to the bay don't fit the holes in the computer case .I have no idea which of the screws fit in these holes now. These are not standard screws that screw directly into a CD or DVD.Also, the wings of the tray that accommodate the SSDs are too high for the extensions to support the tray could screw into the bay. The reviewer who asked about having to mount the hard drive upside down was right. This seems like the only way to fit the tray in the bay. However, this is a moot point given the large screws won't work anyway, I'm guessing that this tray was designed by a committee of 10 people and none of them kept in touch with each other during production.

Pros
  • There's something to it
Cons
  • Waiting too long
