I have used expensive and cheap. This caliper is by far the best value for money in the mid-range. One review mentioned that the caliper loses its seat when you turn it off, which isn't true. Yes, the screen goes blank and if you turn it back on without moving it, it's at zero. It's not a defect, it's made in such a way that the battery in the box doesn't run out when it's "off" and still keeps its zero or whatever. I don't know how much he likes paying for dead batteries, but he doesn't like it at all. Another wrote about the scale showing the last two digits at half size, changing the accuracy of the scale doesn't change the accuracy in any way, it's still accurate to +/- 5 ten-thousandths of an inch. If you know how to use calipers you can get this down to almost 2.5 ten thousandths. Well, if you're a nuclear engineer or think you're a nuclear engineer, you might need more precision than this. If so, buy a caliper for $300-$500 or more and be happy. I don't build people who carry rockets etc. You understand I make the things I need out of metal and do woodwork so 64's and .0005's are fine with me.
