Works, but. Not quite.

I bought this to convert the USB-C port on my Logitech Streamcam to a regular USB 3.0 port as my computer only has one USB-C port and it already has one for an external one drive is used. The dongle works, yes, but. The Logitech software did not recognize the USB 3.0 connection. This meant that the Logi Capture software was preventing me from streaming Full HD+ 60fps, only allowing 30fps (although I haven't checked if resetting the resolution to 60fps got me back). I also use a USB-C extension cable now, so this can make a difference (so don't skip this adapter right now if you're in a similar situation but don't use an extension). Adapter out of the equation and Streamcam (plus extension cord) temporarily plugged into my only USB-C port, it worked fine. Note. I didn't test the transfer speed with this adapter, but since the camera wasn't actually there!) I expected the transfer speed to be closer to USB 2.0. Lost a star due to the above and the second was that the end of the USB-C adapter doesn't seem to be reversible. In one direction, the camera was constantly disconnecting and reconnecting to the PC (fast enough that no video was being recorded, Logi Capture kept showing "camera unavailable" while Windows repeated the "new device connected/disconnected" sound that played when connecting/ .things disconnected) while it worked fine in the other orientation with the same port on my PC. wanted to remove as many variables from the task as possible. I am very technical and built this computer myself specifically for 3D rendering, audio and video editing. In general, I would say that such an adapter is great for connecting peripherals that do not have large amounts of data. USB-C keyboard/mouse, rarely used external backup drive, lights, etc. But for a webcam, my external audio device, or an external drive that you access frequently, you might have better luck elsewhere.
