I had to drill through a 1 inch thick granite countertop. I cut like most YouTube videos show: start at an angle, add water, rotate side to side. Everything went pretty smoothly, but it ended up being totally fat and bent, looks like the mandrel wasn't welded well to the cylinder (see video), it didn't go through the wood at all.
