This is a cryptex I made out of maple on my lathe. As you can see, there are a few overly burned letters and a few letters that aren't completely burned out, and the "t" on the fourth wheel has slipped off. This is because I can't burn on a very hard wood cylinder and shouldn't be reflected in the letters. 1 use. I don't know if they will work with another iron so as good as they are you might be limited. If I could change one thing it would be threads. They work great with a tapered friction fit. Since you have to switch letters so many times to get anything other than ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHH! writing, it would be a good idea not to hold the letters with unscrewing pliers. I think that combined with the heat caused the threads to snap.
