Low price doesn't mean the speaker sucks and this is a great example. I bought a couple of these for my B speaker which works alongside my NHT towers and now I listen to them more often than not. First, they are not party speakers and do not fill a large room like a physically larger speaker. Woofer design and low sensitivity dictate lower overall volume per watt of power so I would recommend a good quality one in your amp like the A/B power supply in mine as you will need to crank the gain up to bring it to life high. In this case, expect a fairly open sound that feels very balanced top-to-bottom, with no bumps or bright spots to iron out. Also make sure your amp has a 4 ohm setting for them. I've tried my tone controls from time to time, but in the end I prefer the sound with flat settings, and that's saying something. The bass goes to a fair 60Hz before decaying and the room boost adds extension and I would argue that using a subwoofer simply isn't necessary for musical purposes. home theater? Another story and I only bought mine for stereo. My listening room is 12X12 and they sound loud enough to be enjoyed without fatigue, which is the result of the completely redesigned crossover in this X version speaker. , has a fairly airy smoothness that makes it comfortable to listen to, but a bit loud. Dynamics aren't bad for such a compact speaker, where size alone limits its ability to really cut through, so once again keep an eye on your listening space. I have no doubt that you will find them very satisfying, especially when given good, clean, quality performance. Forget the grill covers, they really bother this speaker. And for the price, what can you go wrong?
