I used this (with a supported power adapter which I had to purchase separately) for an Oculus Rift sensor. The sensor kept throwing errors, so I turned off the computer and noticed that the lights on my motherboard were still on. I unplugged the power cord from the computer but the lights stayed on! I started unplugging USB devices and as soon as I removed that active power strip, the light went out. It turns out that when you use an external power supply with this adapter, your computer gets power! That means they used a really cheap/poor design for the active part of the power strip and didn't isolate it very well (or at all). This can damage all connected devices, be careful.
