I bought this for my husband when he was due for surgery with a hospital stay of over 2 weeks. His old dressing gown is a terry cloth robe, very thick and heavy, but not at all comfortable. This robe is soft and cozy, just what I wanted (it gets cold fast and we all know how cold hospitals and doctor's offices can be). It's a good weight, not too heavy (or warm) but not too light either. It feels like a fleece blanket sewn into a bathrobe, which is exactly what I wanted. After a warm wash (with Drift, well, you gotta love Drift) you were done. I gave it to him during pre-surgery testing and he loved it! He actually used it as a blanket to take a nap while we waited between tests at the hospital and he said it was perfect. He uses it now and at home in the morning when he gets up and has a cup of coffee. I sneak in and put it on to let the dog out in the backyard and it's very cozy and soothing. I wasn't disappointed and actually thought about getting one.
