Not quite what I expected, but nice!

Many years ago I used to stamp and make cards a lot, but then I stopped. Now I've jumped back in and everything has changed - like these Distress Oxide ink pads. Dye and pigment inks used to exist, but they never worked together. That has changed! This Distress Oxide ink acts more like a pigment as it is much more opaque than traditional stamp pads. This makes them suitable for stamping on dark cardboard. But the colors themselves are more akin to dye-based inks, and drying time is greatly reduced when using a direct pigment ink pad. The magic happens when you spray water. If you paint the box with ink and then lightly drizzle water on it, you will get lighter areas where the water mixes with the ink. But I've also found that if you squirt the paper lightly with water before inking it, the area that falls will soak up the ink and make it darker - cool! (In any case, be careful not to wet the card stock or you'll end up with a disintegrating paper mess.) I had a good time with these ink pads, they came out nice and juicy and whether I print them more traditionally or use them to add a background to create, they work great. I look forward to more flowers!

Pros
  • Water-reactive and pigmented ink that creates an oxidizing effect when sprayed with water.
Cons
  • Without automatic
