Review on Top Brake Level Ultimate Elixir by Matt Lewis

Revainrating 5 out of 5

E-scooter ceramic is excellent

Was a bit skeptical about paying $50 for a set of brake pads but I'm glad I did. These pads appear to be of very high quality in every respect. Although they were intended for an electric scooter, I settled on a ceramic compound (rather than an e-bike compound) for their smoothness and good overall performance. They are a perfect match for my Nutt hydraulic brakes. I'll break them in shortly, but I can already say that they are worth the money. Quiet operation on 160mm Sram rotors with clean swing. The scooter weighs about 85 pounds and mine weighs 210, that's about 300 pounds of braking load. They have more than enough grip to lock up the tires when needed, but aren't overly aggressive like the sintered metal pads they replaced. They feel much smoother and linear and don't grab aggressively unless you pull the lever hard. I've only ridden them a few miles so far but I'm definitely happy with them and don't regret spending a few bucks more.

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Could have gone for a newer model
