I think this set is great for beginners or anyone wanting more bang for their buck. I bought this set just for fun to try because I thought it was a decent deal and the colors looked really nice. When you've tried them, they're usually pretty good, but some things could be improved. My main criticism is that I feel like all the colors have a slightly different "transparency" and I found that I added white to some colors just to make them more vibrant. it's a little more obscure. Not the end of the world, but definitely better if all colors are consistent. My second criticism is that I found some paints to smell VERY strange and strong. In general, the entire palette has no smell, but some of the darker colors smelled very chemically. Eventually I found that they don't flow as well as some other gouache colors, they are a bit more sticky/plastic even when you add water. After they've dried I think they're very similar to everything else, but they're a little more difficult to work with. You get a lot of color for the cost of this palette, but I personally don't think it's interchangeable with my higher-end palette. Good quality gouache but definitely fun when I want to go somewhere or just play. As long as you buy it without expecting top quality, I think you'll be happy!
