The screws weren't long enough
I love the look of this lamp. I ended up cutting out a special pole to make it closer to the ceiling than just using one pole. If you're thinking of doing what I did by shortening the rod, you know you need to thread the cut tube. The screws attaching the lamp to the bracket were 1/2 inch shorter. I fixed it with a trip to the store, but be aware it might not just fly out of the box onto your ceiling.
