Seems to be quite strong although I haven't had a chance to test it in a day on the river yet. After reading other people's reviews I decided to order half a size smaller than I normally wear. I wear a size 9 and have wide feet, but the size 8.5 still had a good 1/2 inch of room to the toes. I can lace them up so they don't chafe my ankle, but I could easily order 8 and be comfortable. If I had time to return them and wait for a replacement I would.
