I've had a Vornado heater for about 5 years now and I love it! I've had other heaters in the past that weren't as good as the Vornado. Yes, I know - 1500 watts is 1500 watts, but since Vornados heat the air and distribute it evenly throughout the room, rather than just using radiant heat, the difference is very noticeable. I live on the central west coast of Florida in a 1 bedroom condo and have found that I very rarely need supplemental heating in the winter using the Vornado heater that I own. Night temperatures here rarely fall below 30 degrees, in winter they average between 40 and 50 degrees. Of course, due to the subtropical climate, we have many more hot months than cold ones here. I sometimes joke that we only have two seasons here. Summer for 8 months and Fall/Spring for 4. With that in mind, I've been wanting to get one of the Vornado circulators for a long time, so finally decided to get one a few months ago. I'm glad I did. After doing a little research on their different models, I settled on the 610DC Energy Smart model. It cost about $40 more than a comparably sized AC motor model, but I figured it would more than make up the difference in energy savings over the long run. Also, I really like the variable speed motor and the warranty has doubled from 5 years. AC version. Who else gives a 10-year guarantee on their products? Just a company that makes a superior product and trusts it to last this long. In just the first full month of use it has already recovered about 20% of its value in my lower electricity bill. My typical electric bill was $61-$63 throughout July and August, with the thermostat kept at 80 during the day, 76-77 when I'm home and awake, and 75 when I'm asleep. With Vornado, I now keep my thermostat at around 82 during the day and around 78-79 the rest of the time, and I'm actually more comfortable than I was before I bought the fan. I expected my electric bill to be about $10 less than usual after the first full month of using this fan (July). I was pleasantly surprised to find that last month it was $20 off, down to $43, and the fan runs 24/7. In that time, nothing has changed in my usual way of using electricity, except for using Vornado and raising the temperature on the thermostat. My electricity bill has NEVER been this low in the summer, and only during the seasons when heating or air conditioning isn't needed, and then mostly only when I'm on vacation for a week because of the heat. the water heater is off. While awake I keep the speed around medium and keep a fan in the hallway outside my bedroom facing the living room and my sofa (10-12 feet apart) and just move it a few feet so the door to the Bed faces and rotates it to medium level while sleeping. This center aisle placement means I don't have to unplug it and move it to a different outlet during my waking and sleeping hours. As others have noted, the fan isn't exactly quiet (except maybe on the lowest settings), but noise levels are very low compared to other fans, especially on low to medium settings, and it's not intrusive even on higher settings. enough to interfere with listening to TV, music, or conversation. For the amount of air it expels, it's relatively quiet compared to other fans, so noise levels weren't an issue for me. The fan underwent a real world test yesterday to see how much air it can move and how fast. I sautΓ©ed seasoned roast beef in olive oil in a cast iron skillet on the stove over high heat and it immediately started smoking like crazy. All the smoke alarms started ringing and the place looked like it was on fire and I coughed up all the smoke. (The hood fan on my stove doesn't blow out, it just blows smoke in, making it utterly useless.) I half-opened the sliding glass door and parked the Vornado in front of it at top speed. blow out smoke. The apartment (780 square meters) was cleared of smoke within 10 minutes. I was very impressed with how quickly he did it. beings? Vornado products rule! Don't settle for less. They're worth the extra cost compared to lower-end products. You really do get what you pay for and it doesn't take long before you forget how much more you paid compared to a cheap fan. Oh, and by the way, the roast was excellent. Yum!PS This was NOT a paid review and I did not receive a free or discounted product to review. This is 100% my own honest and unbiased review of this product for which I paid full price. Update - 10/06/17. I have loved this circulator pump since I bought it but after only using it for about 3 months the circulator pump started to make a loud and annoying knocking in the engine which was intermittent but constant and most pronounced at mid to low RPM . much louder than the noise of the fan itself, although the fan itself was still working properly. The frequency of the knocking corresponded exactly to the engine speed, which left no doubt as to the cause of the problem. Removing and cleaning the cover and blade didn't help. I could also take the motor spindle and it would move side to side by about 1-2mm. when I moved it. I suspected the motor had bad bearings, although I could definitely be wrong on that point. I will update this review once I receive a refurbished fan or replacement from the company. I may have just received a rare bad apple in a bunch and I'm willing to give the company the benefit of the doubt at this point, but I'm very happy that the company is backing their product with no issues. I contacted the company's customer service earlier this week and they promptly sent me a prepaid UPS label to ship the fan back to their Kansas headquarters for repair. (Luckily I saved the original packaging.) They actually assemble this model there in Andover, Kansas, at their US HQ, not in China, so they say they have spare parts on hand. So far so good, although I have to say I was a bit disappointed that a top-notch $100 fan started giving me problems in such a short time after purchase (although I'll admit it runs 24/7 has been running since I bought it.) The support team responded very quickly and very professionally, so I don't blame them for this issue. I just hope they can solve my problem. I'll post an update later to let you know how effective they were at this. In the meantime, I think it's fair and fair to downgrade my rating from 5 stars to 4 stars due to this unexpected issue that arose too soon after purchase. If I get a quick and satisfactory solution to my problem, I'll most likely return 5 stars. As mentioned above, after only a few months of ownership, I had to return the fan to the company for service. They sent me a refurbished fan (same serial number) the next business day after receiving it! I had to swap the engine. Since then no problems. Thank you Vornado! I'm still keeping my rating at 4 stars instead of going down to 5 simply because the motor has failed in such a short time since purchase and I was expecting much more durability than that. I know this review has turned out to be a lot longer than I originally intended and thank you for putting up with all my ramblings, but let me make one final comment. A cheap 20" backup case fan that I had to use as a temporary replacement (I usually only use it outside on the patio in the summer when I'm there, as I often do) while the Vornado was being refurbished was SIGNIFICANT inferior in performance to the 9" Vornado 610DC. There is absolutely no comparison between the two as the Vornado's performance (pun intended) outperforms that of a much larger, cheap fan. Vornado has another client for life.
