I bought this to organize my yarn and craft supplies. The cubes measure approximately 11-1/2 inches inside. The doors keep dust out and stay closed most of the time - the problem is that I have the unit on an uneven carpeted floor. The instructions are not very clear, but with a little "trial and error" I was able to assemble most "my 74 year old". (Later my adult daughter came to the rescue to finish the build.) So far the cubes contain: my mini sewing machine, all my craft books, a large sewing box/bag, lots of thread (including oversized skeins), hooks, a case, an embroidery hoop in 9 sizes, a case and sets of embroidery threads, as well as various other items for handicrafts. I recommend this item from this seller.
