The camera refused to play the video (black screen), only snapped pictures, and the camera control program died with an error when I installed it on my Windows 7 Home Basic computer using the drivers from the CD. I located a new set of drivers and software somewhere, installed it, and now the video plays, but it stutters and keeps cutting out, making Skype useless. I fought for two hours and scaled the forum walls, and I wasn't alone. I decided to give Windows 8 a try, and after connecting the camera via USB, the operating system automatically downloaded and installed the correct driver. I tried out Skype, and found that it is perfectly functional, with clear audio and vivid visuals. The bottom line is that upgrading to Windows 8 in advance is recommended to avoid driver issues.
