I bought this for cat pee as it claims to be waterproof. My cats love to pee outside of the litter box (I've tried everything to counteract this, they do). It's definitely not waterproof, my cat urine leaks onto the floor. It picks up dirt well and is easy to clean. I resorted to putting puppy pads underneath. To clean it I take it outside and hose it down with some detergent. Dries pretty quickly.
