I've had a lot of splash screens over the years, mostly from the local big store. The cheap one seemed to work in terms of reducing oil splatter, but quickly rusted and the edges wore out fairly quickly. So I was looking for something more substantial. That seems to be it. Heavier than others, I first used it for frying skinless chicken thighs, which produce small bursts of hot oil. It can be painful if splashes get on skin, and of course, cleaning the stove is messy. The chicken thighs were nicely browned and I didn't splatter. I don't put the screen in the dishwasher, I dry it straight away so whether it's the quality of the screen or the way it was washed, it hasn't started to rust after a few months. Another thing I've never seen before is that the colander has two little supports so when you take the colander off the pan it doesn't lay flat on the counter top keeping it clean and sanitary. I never thought I would write such a long review about a simple splatter screen. PS Since I had good experiences with the screen, I looked at the 1-star ratings. Negative screen descriptions and a photo do not match how this screen looks or works.
