Review on Go Rhino 360PS Stainless HitchStep by Cory Owens

A good additional bumper for the trailer hitch.

PLEASE READ THE UPDATE BELOW. I bought this after my car was RWD for the second time this year (I know right?!?). I thought it would help if I got hit again. Pros: - Beautiful all black powder coat finish with snug fitting plastic end caps. - Good clean weld between bumper and trailer hitch mount. Looks great - Standard 5/8 inch plug receiver - Matches the receiver well. Keeping it from swaying is a great thing, but water can collect between the receiver tube and the bumper insert. I would suggest applying some oil to prevent possible rusting over time. I personally find that extra bumper sticking out of my car acts a little as a deterrent to discourage someone from approaching my car in a parking lot or at a red light. I noticed that people kept away from me at stoplights... but that could only be me. YMMV.- I like the flat part that I can step on. A rubber/plastic top plate helps keep your foot on the bumper. The price is good for what I get. Although for some of the shortcomings listed below I think I will have to buy again later. I think everything rusts. - The anti-noise device works, although I haven't had it long enough to know if it works long term. Cons: - It collects water as others have said. What I don't like is that there are no drainage holes anywhere for water to escape. I know this reduces bumper life. My clutch seems to have fallen out about 1 degree (from my previous fall) but the whole system also seems to have fallen out a bit. It also didn't look right when installed on my truck and my Kabota RTV... so the bumper was welded to the drain a bit (as others have pointed out). I deducted 1 star for this but I will not refund as my car clutch is failing. My brother bought one of these a few years ago (without the anti-rattle device) and it's started to develop. Rust on the extension that plugs into the vehicle's receiver tube. Overall I would recommend this bumper. ----- UPDATE: The heat from my exhaust melted (see picture) the plastic end caps into modern art. I can't imagine why GoRhino put low temperature plastic on the bumper! Not against the law, but still.

Pros
  • Excellent Overall Performance
Cons
  • If in doubt
