I had to replace the muffler on my 1998 Dodge Ram 1500 because the stock catalytic converter was clogged. I installed a high flow Magnaflow catalytic converter which is much noisier than stock so I assumed this muffler might rumble a bit based on other reviews. Don't believe it; now quieter than with the standard system. However, the fit of the muffler is perfect. So if you are looking for an inexpensive replacement with a quiet sound, you are in good hands here. I installed it without having to jack up the truck in about 25 minutes. You'll have to buy (2) 2 1/2" muffler clamps if you can't reuse your old ones. I just wish someone would make a muffler that's a direct replacement but with a little rumble. Oh, and don't forget That a new muffler will often blow smoke out of the pipes for a day or two until all of the oils have burned off and the moisture in the fill has turned to vapor This is normal and nothing to worry about.
