Review on Achim Home Furnishings Cordless Plantation by Jonathan Ulsth

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Five stars for what common sense expects

Look, these aren't expensive, high-end blinds that someone will install for you. What they are are beautiful, inexpensive blinds that are true to life. They were beautifully packaged in their original sealed boxes in shipping boxes. They are no more tiring and tedious to hang than MANY other blinds I have hung. The fittings are standard, that is, only a screwdriver with a long shank is sufficient, the screws are too long, quite normal. I replaced the screws for my 36" blinds with shorter ones and didn't install any center posts on these short blinds. I thought I wanted an off-white, but I saw these mahogany colors, decided to give it a try and liked the way they looked. First I ordered two: I was so happy that after a ladder, marking, drilling a pilot hole, three screwdrivers, screws that fell out, etc., I ordered a third. The price is great, less than matches! A local specialty store quoted a price of $100 per window for plain plantation composite shutters (no wood grain). I am sure that in my environment these inexpensive blinds are just as beautiful as the top blinds. I'm also picky about my time and effort and hanging the blinds myself was worth it. I'm getting less than $40 a window, and when the next big thing in window covering comes out, I won't feel stuck on unfashionable decor because I overpaid for it. PS I'm a 62 year old single mom with a girly tool kit and a fear of stairs.

Pros
  • Not cheap, but decent
Cons
  • Some flaws
