Review on ๐Ÿ” KIRKAS LED Magnifying Lamp 5-Diopter with Clamp - 2,200 Lumens Super Bright Daylight for Reading, Crafts, and Repair - Adjustable Swivel Arm Stand Included (White) by Brian Piecuch

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great magnifying lamp for the price but 3 diopters (1.75x magnification)

I bought this lamp to help with assembly/repair of electronics. It's light and of good quality. Although the label states that 110V 50/60Hz is required, it actually works well with 220V (switching power supply built into the lamp body). The clamp is perfect for my workbench. (although it won't fit the second slanted table as the clip isn't deep enough to fit the flat part of that particular table). The maximum clamp opening is 56mm (minimum 3mm) and the depth is 43mm (36mm to the edge of the rotating section). There is a thumbscrew on the clamp that can be tightened to prevent the lamp from rotating. The center pivot of the arm has a knob to tighten the connection and hold the lamp in place. When the lamp is lowered so that the angle between the arms is about 80 degrees or less, the handle will hit the spring, so the spring should flex around the handle depending on the position of the handle. The forearm can be lowered almost horizontally over the table. , but can only bend backwards about 45 degrees. The other handle pulls a small clamp around the stem of the lamp body itself to lock it in place. So the body can tip up and down or rotate on its stem, but it cannot move sideways. Unfortunately, the case clamp knob has to be screwed on very tightly to keep the case stable, and it's not that strong. I'm worried how it will withstand such a strong pull. I'm thinking of trying two split washers to make it tighter. The lens is very clear glass with no tint. However the lens is advertised as a 5 diopter lens (2.25x magnification or 200mm focal length) but my measurements show a 333mm focal length (ie 3 diopter or only 1.75x magnification! The lighting is very good, with a small rotary potentiometer with built in switch to adjust the brightness and turn the lamp on/off Overall I'm very happy with the lamp but deducted a star for incorrectly advertised magnification.
