Over the past four years, our area has had several severe lightning strikes. We protect our electronics with APC UPS battery backup systems for high value equipment and use the P1T where a UPS would not fit (refrigerator, garage door opener, etc.) or for smaller electronics such as answering machines and laptops. None, I mean none of the equipment protected by APC surge protectors or UPS systems has ever been damaged. This does not apply to devices that are "protected" by surge and redundancy systems from other manufacturers. We've found a winner and we're sticking with it.
