HDMI-DVI takes time to sync.

USB-C goes through fine (for charging); USB-C to USB-3 is fine too; I am using an HDMI to DVI cable for an external monitor and this is the problem. Every time I wake up my Macbook I get blue screen loops. These cycles repeat several times for a minute or two, then disappear and the monitor functions normally.
