Not sure what it was originally designed for, but I have several 17 ounce and 23 ounce water bottles from Swell and others. which have o-rings which are gross. No cleaning (including boiling in water and soaking in vinegar) could get rid of the old coffee smell. The caps are fine, I don't want to change anything, just the seals. This article comes to the rescue. The 22mm size is perfect for 17oz and 23oz caps. It stretches a bit like a rubber band and provides an excellent seal. I did some shake tests and nothing leaked. It comes in a pack of 20 so they are truly disposable. I'm thrilled to finally be able to throw away my old, tarnished, smelly Swell O-rings!
