Review on HUA722020ALA330 2TB SATA 7.2K RPM 32MB 3.5in Hard Drive by Darrin Parasson

It's time to upgrade my DAW's Areca RAID-5 array from the outdated Seagate 7200.12 1TB I'm currently using and to extend. These Hitachi 2TB HUA722020ALA330 Enterprise models are on the Areca hard drive compatibility list and AMTECH had them at a great price (cheaper than the new WD Reds and much better quality overall). Although these particular HUA722020ALA330 drives are no longer manufactured by Hitachi. (I had a production date of "August 2010" on it - I bought them in April 2013) - They were brand new in static packaging and arrived in a sturdy cardboard box with slots for foam bags - very durable packaging from AMTECH (in stark contrast to the poster above - whoops!). I even emailed AMTECH right after I placed my order with my strict shipping requirements and got a call back! AMTECH verbally confirmed that the discs would be packaged very well, and they were. Great service IMHO. I have also been informed that AMTECH will be offering a 3 year warranty on them as the manufacturer's warranty is likely to expire given the August 2010 date of manufacture. I ran all disks through Spinrite at level 3 with no errors and added them to the array. Perfect from the start! Cool, quiet and FAST FAST FAST! This has to be one of the best deals for an IMNSHO 7200RPM 2TB SATA-II enterprise class hard drive. I'm thinking of buying 8 more to expand my RAID 6 NAS! Ideal for Areca RAID cards.
