I've had the mini dock for a few weeks now and it's doing everything I hoped it would. I use it with a Thinkpad T500 and share the keyboard, mouse and 1680 x 1050 LCD monitor with my desktop via an IOgear DVI/USB switch. The mini-dock offers a DVI connection to the monitor instead of the questionable DisplayPort connector built into the T500. Since I only have a 1280 x 800 display on the T500, this makes things a lot more civilized when using the T500 at my desk. Following the advice of other reviewers, I plugged the power supply into the UPS to avoid wasting work. Docking and undocking is easy, although I usually turn off the T500 first. Since it comes with an AC adapter, I can keep the one that came with my laptop in my bag for when I take it with me. I envy a little (first of all, it supports ESATA). As a result, this mini-dock is orphaned. So if you need a mini-dock for the T400/500 or any other supported laptop, it would probably be a good idea to get one soon. Older Thinkpads got a little warm in the mini-dock, which doesn't have a cooling system. The T500 runs pretty cool (wonderful compared to my old P4 laptop it replaced) so it works pretty well sitting in the mini-dock with the lid closed.
