I bought these after trying at least 3 other makeup blenders and this one is by far the best. I've never tried the original Beautyblender because of the high price, but I think they should work just as well for a fraction of the cost. I've tried at least two other similar sponge blenders and they worked pretty well, but with these 1) I felt like they sucked up a lot of makeup, even wet ones, and 2) I felt like the sponge was broken and "split " was. educated. into foam in just a few weeks. Considering the price I would be happy with that, but then I stumbled across it almost 6 months ago and realized I wasted my money on these other products. It's awesome. Seriously, I bought these in March - it's October now - and I've got one more in the pack and I've only just started using the fourth so I have time before I go. However, I'm about to buy a new set, which is what prompted me to write this review. I think some people use them dry, but I always use them when they're wet; I think using a damp sponge helps not soak up as much makeup. I also think it helps to really blend the foundation into my skin (I tried those silicones and impurities! It was like swiping makeup all over my face, I couldn't even blend the makeup out! ). I also think it helps keep my face hydrated throughout the day. I have problematic skin with hormonal acne and cystic acne that occurs when I'm stressed (which is common) and I use a lot of strong facial products (salicylic acid, benzyl peroxide, tea tree oil, etc.) which can cause dryness and flaky skin and I feel this sponge helps apply smoothly to those areas. I get scabs a lot too and I think the sponge also helps cover up those blemishes with concealer. Every morning I apply liquid foundation and sometimes concealer with a sponge. I use antibacterial gel soap (from bath and body products!) daily to gently work off old makeup; It takes about 30 seconds and it cleans almost like new every time. The only reason I change the sponge every 4-6 weeks is that daily use and brushing causes cracks in the sponge which makes the makeup application not as smooth. What's quite odd is that I've noticed that pink seems to hold and peel much better than other colors. Maybe it's just a coincidence. All in all, for $2 a sponge, I couldn't be happier. I have encouraged my sisters to buy them and I encourage everyone who reads to buy them as well. I really don't know how I've ever applied makeup with my fingers!
