Got this just in time for this crazy Seattle heat. I like the fan very much. We put it in our children's room to make it as comfortable as possible without air conditioning. It is important to note that this is not air conditioning. So if you expect it to cool a room or your home, it doesn't. But it creates a nice cool breeze when aimed at you. It was very easy to set up other than pulling the foam out of the water compartment. Maybe it was just ours as I didn't see any other reviews about it. It was pressed so hard between these two pieces of plastic that it broke several times. We had to unscrew the top edge to take it off. No big deal, just annoying. Then you pour water into ice cube trays, freeze them and after a few hours you're ready to go. Place an ice pack in the water tank, fill it with water to the max line (unmarked, it's just a line down the side. At least I think it's the max line?) and turn it on. Then choose your settings (they're pretty simple) and click the Cool button. Pros: - Although it's big, it's light and easy to move around - It definitely blows cooler, icy air - I can point it directly at myself for long periods of time without an itch or a dry throat because the air is humid (although you won't can feel the humidity) - It's quite a powerful fan - No blades - Easy to adjust manually or with a remote control Cons: - Instructions could be better (photo, more precise). It was difficult to find the maximum water supply line and I can't find the minimum at all. The tank isn't big enough to give you cool air all night and the fan doesn't switch to fan mode automatically (no cool function). And leaving it outside in the cold without enough water is not good for the fan. So you either have to use it as a fan only at night, set a timer to turn it off completely, or get up once or twice to turn off the ice and fill the compartment. For us this is a big minus. In our experience, this does not cool the room. The door to the children's room had to be left open even when the fan was running. But he was comfortable blowing on him, even in a room that was nearly 90 degrees. In general, a lifesaver for this event, when there were no air conditioners anywhere. But it has some limitations.
