I purchased this item at the request of a home manufacturer after researching several brands of tags. Verdict: It's a solid cast with multiple quality control points that make accurate evaluation much easier. pretty strong hands. The envelope/paper box attachment is a great addition that turns a simple gadget into a much more versatile tool. The scribe gauge is an issue and an SI/Metrik user should probably look elsewhere. TL; DR: It's divided into the good, bad and ugly format. Good: This scoreboard is an injection molded part. The knife is clearly a consumable item and a replacement does not appear to be readily available. There's nothing wrong with using a different scoring knife, but the profile must match the score lines or be slightly narrower to avoid cutting into the grooves. Ugliness: It's there for those who need metric units, but the manufacturer hasn't bothered to fill it with a contrasting color. As such they are very difficult to detect and would need to be modified (see attached photo) to have a practical metric scale. This, combined with the misalignment between the grooves and the SI measurement, was enough to knock out a full star of product. Note that the 1/8" grooves are each about 3.2mm wide, so the conversion doesn't work. After all, it is an SAE product. General Description: This product review and related opinions are my own.
