USB 3.0 to HDMI didn't work

I was really hoping this adapter ($80) would work because it claimed to offer up to 2560x1600 resolution over HDMI. StarTech's HDMI version has only been upped to 1920 x 1080 - you'll need to buy the StarTech DisplayPort version ($95) to up the resolution to 2560 x 1600. I ordered the StarTech model first and then ordered the C2G when I saw it was cheaper. I ended up ordering both and I'm really sorry that this adapter didn't work. I recently purchased 2 LG 29EA73 Ultrawide Monitors with a 21:9 aspect ratio and 2560 x 1080 resolution. I have a monitor connected to my laptop via the HDMI port and needed an adapter to connect a second monitor to the USB 3.0 port. For some reason this switch didn't work. The weird thing is that both this adapter and StarTech use DisplayLink Corp technology, so they should be similar, right? I installed the drivers from the CD, then plug and play, and then via the DisplayLink website. Nothing succeeded! My secondary monitor was not recognized by my computer. Then I tried the StarTech version over DisplayPort. It worked! This is my first review and I plan on calling C2G and asking why it didn't work.
