This should be my third 3D printer. I have qidi (makerbot clone) and ender3x. I bought this because I wanted an air conditioned bed and a large print area. The price and YouTube reviews looked good and I couldn't resist. Assembly was easy, down to the ribbon cables. Unlike the Raspi camera cable, which has a lock/unlock mechanism, these connections are purely force-fit. That means you have to apply significant pressure to keep the thin ribbon cable straight like an arrow. If you don't, you'll kink the cable on one side or the other. I worked it out. I was willing to ignore this PITA as its cable management is the cleanest I've seen. I followed the instructions and finished the build. Turned it on, the LCD lit up, showed loading, then a color menu. Perfect. Time to check the movement of the axis / Home. Pressed the move button. then z+ , z- no problem. Then y+, y- everything is fine. I pressed the x+ button and a squeak came from the car. Not sure where from (probably engine x). A few seconds later, smoke began pouring out of the left front side vent near the LCD display. I pulled the cord and I'm pretty sure it would have caught fire if I hadn't. The magic smoke before the 1st print is a showstopper for me. Sent it back and got a replacement.
