Last summer I used this unit as extra cooling for my bedroom. My central air conditioner is about 20 years old and just doesn't cool my apartment well enough on the hottest days. This little device worked great as a secondary source of cooling and I brought it to every room I was in. As an added benefit, it returned some moisture to the air, which helped with the Colorado drought. The water tank door was big enough to put ice cubes in, so I used to put a whole bag of ice in the tank and then fill it to the brim with cold water. leaked from the back of the device onto the floor every time I used it. I put a small, short-walled plastic container underneath it - similar to a washing machine overflow - and the problem was solved. no water level sensor. So if you leave it on overnight there is a chance the pump will burn out because the unit failed but didn't shut down. I didn't really care because I usually turned it on a few hours before bed and then turned it off when the room was cool enough. Overall, I gave 5 stars because the device is basic and not necessarily attractive. , but it works incredibly well, costs half or less than a portable AC unit, and uses negligible power to cool a room. If you live in a dry climate and don't expect it to get as cold as an air conditioner, then it's worth the money.
