I bought a girl color for my 4 year old daughter and a boy color for my 2 year old son in different sizes. But by shoe size, not by age. They are perfect for both children. The two colors were the same in both packages. They are soft and keep my kids feet warm when playing in the snow in combination with boots. They are not too thick and are therefore suitable for normal shoes. It stands machine washable, but hand wash is recommended. I've washed them a few times in the washing machine on the gentle/hand cycle and air dried them. They're still holding on. My only complaint was that the inside had a lot of long cords that changed colors. I was afraid, they would get caught on my toes so I cut them off. Basically me
