The Ducati ST3 mirror sits on a three piece arm held together by a spring. As this is a mirror the spring is nowhere to be seen as it runs inside the mount and is held firmly to the rod under the mirror mount. The mirror fell off after I caught it passing a motorcycle in the garage and the spring disengaged. I suspect that someone in Ducati's service department connected this spring to the wrong endpoint because that mirror was always easier to "bend" than the other side mirror. The task of putting it back together is fairly easy, and you don't need to study it much to figure out what needs to be done. I spent a couple of hours trying to hook the spring to the endpoint of the attachment, using whatever tools I had to get at the spring, but it seemed impossible. I then started looking for help online hoping there was a trick and finally found this tool. I ordered it and received it the next day. To be honest, attaching the mirror to the bike took longer than hooking the spring with this tool. This is an inexpensive and simple tool, but when you are faced with a strong spring that needs to be pulled to hook the hook, this tool is simply indispensable.
