I use this Bluetooth device in my car so distance between devices is certainly not an issue. It paired right up with my phone the first time I installed it in my car. It sounds fine to me, but a moving vehicle with A/C or heater on is not the best place for determining the music-to-noise ratio. Sometimes I use it to read audiobooks with a Kindle Fire and have no problems there either.For me, I use this in a way that doesn't really put it through any dramatic test but I will say for what I use it for, it works well. The only nit I have with it is battery life. I have a rather long commute and have to recharge before the week is out.
