4 stars for wind protection and keeps upper back and sides of face comfortably warm in cold weather. I just tested it in -1 degree weather with -18 to -25 cold winds depending on your calculations and it worked pretty well. The problem I have is "breathability" while running, especially when trying to suck in enough air while running uphill in cold weather. For light physical activity (walking), this mask is excellent and protects your face from "wind whipping". At high to moderate loads the front of the balaclava sucks in moisture (and only freezes when you stop breathing, then of course melts again once you breathe into the mask) - that's when I catch myself taking a break from the mask part I can while running not breathing properly with the mask on (here I recommend a neoprene mask with breathing holes). If you don't have strong winds and run with the mask part down, this is a good option, especially in temperatures above 0°F with no wind. You can also combine this mask with a neoprene mask (with breathing holes) for better options. Much luck!
