Review on ๐Ÿ”ฌ Advanced Semiconductor Analyzer with Curve Tracing - PEAK Atlas IT (DCA Pro) by Michael Lightfoot

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Does what it says on the tin

Nothing to add to the other rave reviews of the DCA75 Pro - it's just a great device. I kept its DCA55 predecessor in my desk drawer for years, pulling it out from time to time to identify and test different semiconductors. At first I wasn't sure if it was worth updating the DCA75. but now I've been playing with it for a couple of hours. Not only can the Pro test various details like IGBTs that the DCA55 failed to detect, but the "curve tracingโ€ feature is well implemented, easy to use and understand, and will definitely come in handy. Large instrumentation vendors could learn a lot from the well-designed PEAK software for Windows. The quality of the spring clip grips was a weak point on the DCA55, but it looks like they've been improved on this model. The new LCD display offers more details and better legibility at wide viewing angles. The only criticism I have so far is the nasty piezo buzzer that starts chirping as soon as the power is first turned on. It's not clear who wants to turn it on, but in any case, ten seconds with a well-organized, informative instruction manual was enough to learn how to turn it off. No damage, no foul. The DCA55 stowed easily in a desk drawer, but the DCA75 has earned a permanent spot on my desk. Highly recommended.
