Incredibly soft but not a flattering fit

I really wanted to love this because the peplum fit looked really cute in the pictures and the material was amazing! This sweater is thicker than it looks and redicicously soft. I got a medium which fit as expected but unfortunately the fit was very unflattering. It pretty much stuck to my stomach and showed my extra weight and the way the buttons lay, really makes it stick out as well. The peplum doesn't seem like it's in the right spot. I think maybe if you're really thin this could be cute but didn't look good on me. For reference I'm 5'2, 147lbs.
