Let me start this product review with my credibility statement. I'm no pro, but I bought the Black Diamond Harness with the intention of using it for climbing and work. I currently work as a rock climbing instructor at a local gym and enjoy rock climbing as a hobby. I have taken this trailer to several states and gyms in the Midwest. On average, I devote about 5 hours a week to everything from rock climbing to belaying visitors. I usually use the top rope, but I've done a lot of multi-rope lead climbing with this harness. Due to my specific consumer needs, I based this review on the following criteria: Durability, Comfort, and Intended Buyer. The Black Diamond Harness offers the comfort and feel of a $100 Pezel suspension for a third of the price. It is not as light as a climbing harness that a beginner or professional climber needs. However, I believe this product is suitable for beginner to intermediate users who need a strong, durable and comfortable product. It can be used for safety when climbing on top rope, leash, multi-stage rope or belay. Some of the features that make this product so durable are the double stitching and secure gear loops. The double stitching is very durable and reliable. All hinges and hardware have been reinforced to eliminate any possibility of failure. The gear loops are covered with clear plastic, making it easy to attach carabiners and hang gear. I've had over twenty pounds of gear on these hinges at times and they still hold up. I would also like to add how comfortable this harness is. I had a very strong need for it because I belayed so often. I found the suspension met that standard of comfort. I have found the leg and hip pads to be particularly handy for securing visitors for hours. The materials are breathable and the hip belt is wide enough not to cut into the climber. You can tell that time has been spent on climbing comfort while wearing this product. If you're looking for a comfortable harness that won't break the bank, this is the harness for you. If you are a beginner or an aspiring climber looking for a safe, reliable and versatile product, look no further.
