The turtle Dexter can see the difference in the light spectrum.
When ours burned out and we replaced it with an ordinary light bulb, the turtle didn't even come out of its house "in the sun" to bathe in the light. When Zoo Med's replacement light arrived and was placed in her aquarium, she stepped out again. So it's really doing something different that the reptile can recognize. We will continue to buy this product. It has a good lifespan as we leave it on for over 12 hours a day.
