I chose it for testing because of its high current rating (8A max) and simple design for isolating the batteries from external circuits. It's tiny and easily fits in the curved space between two 18650 cells or in the middle of a block of four. In my test setup, the circuit board is in a shrink tube between two cells. No heat issues so far, but haven't tested full load or low voltage shutdown situations. The charging circuit appears to be working properly. Input and output are just two wires (V+ and V-). Mine charges to around 8.45V when the mains voltage reaches 9V (according to specs) and discharges when a load is present. This used a 9V 2 amp wall brick charging two Li-Ion cells and a running 24V LED from a boost circuit. Batteries replenish what the charger can't provide and keep the lighting running smoothly. I'm hoping others can provide info on designs to use in series/parallel 14.4 volt or higher batteries for solar energy storage, or perhaps where to connect a charge indicator to identify faulty cells.
