This folding rule from Larson is great. This is a tool from the past. The brass is a bit hard to see. What I did was lightly sand the entire wood section of the ruler to smooth out the wood, which especially helped the edges. .I've tried putting some light oil on the hinges but I haven't been able to get into the hinge yet. The marks on brass need to be applied a little deeper and then a darker "color" is added to make it stand out a bit more. I don't measure wood very often and I usually cut my wood to the size I want and work with that. I do quite a bit do a lot of woodwork with power tools and have switched to a hand tool. At my age, it's safer and quieter. I bought it to enjoy its classic woodworking history and will use it when needed. no more tapes. To mark
