Review on Ethernet Adapter VENTION Support Linux(0 5FT by Randy Holt

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Four and a half stars

This adapter replaces an earlier relatively new USB to RJ45 adapter that came in two boxes. I wanted to combine the functionality of a USB hub (purchased 2020, has a handy SD slot) with the functionality of an Ethernet adapter to use one of the computer's ports to connect to a DSL modem and a wired keyboard and manage wired mouse. On the day this product arrived I was experiencing intermittent connectivity issues, screen lag and a variety of issues. The connectivity issues were mostly due to the cable getting wet on the DSL (I'm finally switching companies and going to fiber soon), but there were other things that didn't make sense. a short time and there was a tremendous improvement. I don't miss the other ethernet adapter's pulsing activity indicator (I thought that might happen), I don't notice any slowdown in mouse clicks and pointer movements (don't you like all my brackets?), I didn't notice any problems warming up the device, no smoke, no weird piercing hum (I have ears like a dog), everything works fine. I've now split the desired features of both docks: we used this new adapter and the USB 3.x to Displayport adapter a few weeks ago, and the 2013 Asus has recovered well from the storm of age woes. Much has to do with the development of this cavalcade of adapters. The only other changes I've made lately have been uninstalling Spotify (it popped up after a reboot the other day) and the hidden phone line seems to have dried up. From our pre-April soul Bravo to the arrival of Spring!

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging
