Great spray guns for the price!

I've seen several reviews that this gun was made at sea. That's true, and for the price you should expect it. However, this does not detract from the spray pattern you can get with any of these guns. I've been painting cars for 35 years and have used cheap disposable guns right down to my Sata remote control gun system which costs close to 2,000 so I know what a gun should and shouldn't do. The chance to get real lemon when testing your gun with solvent. Put the cup on (only hand tighten if it's a little tight) and set the air pressure in the gun to a very low setting of 10-15psi and see what kind of pattern you get, if you spray on a piece of brown cardboard. Adjust the air pressure, jet width, and volume (needle) until you get a cigar shape on cardboard when you put the gun on very quickly. If grease is on top or bottom, verify gun is clean and try again. If it's still oily on top or bottom, return them and buy new ones. These shotguns have a pretty nice chrome finish that helps with cleaning. Try to stay away from anodized and non-smooth weapons as they are harder to remove. I recommend the 16 ounce DeVilbiss DPC8 Atomizer Cleaning Bottle available here at Revain for $6.50. This saves you more than two cleanings with nail polish thinner. These pistols must be disassembled for cleaning immediately after each use. Be careful with the fluid nozzle and needle. If you drop them, you'll probably need to replace them to get a good pattern back. Most people who use HVLP guns are using too much air pressure in the gun. For dense body primers you might need around 20psi, but basecoats and thin clearcoats stay around 10-15psi. They use large volumes of air instead of high pressure to atomize liquid. See how deep you can go to get good atomization on your test piece. Also make sure you are using the correct fluid tip/needle for the fluid you are spraying. Thin material 1.0, medium 1.3 and heavy material 1.8. I'm not sure if they can spray with 1.8 latex paint.

Pros
  • handy
Cons
  • good but not great
