Firstly, despite the picture (which shows a fiber optic cable) this product is a real socket as described in the product description. To be honest, I bought this product because I was looking for a short (about 4ft) power cord with an angled or swivel plug for another project. Turns out they're hard to come by unless you're willing to buy 1000's of them straight from the factory in China :-) It's easier to find a cheap outlet that has them and the plug pull out. However, having taken the rotating fork and band apart myself to look at the construction, I have to say the quality of everything is decent (considering the cost) and I'll be buying a few more of these. This is an inexpensive mass market outlet. . It has minimal surge protection, so I wouldn't use it as the sole surge protector for anything electronic (and pretty much anything these days). And the outlet's electrical contacts aren't rated for heavy-duty use, so using them for high-voltage appliances like large coffee makers, electric skillets, or space heaters is probably not a good idea. But it's fine for low-to-mid-wattage things like regular small appliances and lamps. Inside, the build quality is good - the internal wiring is 14 gauge, as is the power cord, and the internal solder joints looked good. The surge protector is singlemode - a MOV, wired to neutral, protected by a non-replaceable thermal fuse kept near the MOV under a protective cover. There is no circuitry or indicator to show if the surge protector is working. It has no EMI/RFI filtering. For these reasons, I would not recommend using this bar as the sole surge protector for electronic devices. The circuit breaker/switch has a short stroke and light touch, making it easy to flip accidentally. The outlets are close together, so a regular-sized plug will suffice, but a large plug or "wall wart" may prevent use of the nearest outlet. Rosettes are oriented vertically (i.e. the blades are parallel to the longitudinal axis of the strip).
