These speakers are the worst. I love quality audio products and have a shiny pair of KEF Q350s in my living room so I figured it would be worth spending the extra money to get these KEF LSX for my office. Huge mistake. The great sound far outweighs the difficulty of using them. I've read reviews about the app being annoying, but since I just wanted to plug it into my computer, I didn't think it would bother me that much. The boy was wrong. Here are the most important and annoying features of these speakers: - They don't have physical power/volume controls, so most of the settings have to be controlled via the app. - The app just doesn't work. No connection to speakers. It does not connect properly to the network. My partner and I are both fairly tech savvy and even after going into the IP settings and hard-wiring the speaker to the router to set it up, it goes off again as soon as the speaker goes into standby mode. – As I said, I only want to use it on my computer. Sounds easy right? no The speakers go into sleep mode when they are idle, resulting in a loss of communication with both the computer and the application. How do I turn off standby mode? With an app that doesn't reconnect every time they turn off. This is a chicken and egg situation. Every time I turn on my computer I also have to turn them on with the remote and tell them which input is selected on the computer each time. This is frustrating and unnecessarily confusing. Even if someone is willing to give up all the wireless capabilities they come with (I would love Airplay but even that was 5 seconds before the app crashed, the speakers forgot who they were and what they were supposed to do), I did I still found them almost completely useless for everyday use. Very disappointing as I bought it as a KEF fan and was willing to sacrifice features to connect it to my Mac. KEF, if you're making a product that's completely dependent on the application, the application has to actually work. The only star they get is the excellent sound quality and clarity. Too bad it takes a technician, patience and a lot of time to hear them. -- NB: This review is based on KEF LSX with the latest version of firmware and app. It amazes me that app development and firmware is so bad that A: they are supposed to come out in 2021 and B: they are supposed to go through quality control and get into the hands of customers.
